Maritimes aus Pforzheim: Die Liebe zum Meer führte Sandra Gallian für sechs Jahre nach Ostfriesland

Von der Nordsee inspiriert: Wie einzigartiger Schmuck mit nachhaltigem Glanz entsteht – Einblicke in eine kreative Unternehmensgründung

Eine große Herausforderung war zunächst, ein Netzwerk von Leuten aufzubauen, die mir dabei helfen konnten, meine Schmuckideen umzusetzen. Ich bin keine gelernte Goldschmiedin und da ich meine Fotos und Zeichnungen am Computer digitalisiert hatte, musste ich jemanden finden, der sie in einem CAD-Programm zu plottbaren Formen weiterentwickelt. … Die Verbindung zur Goldstadt Pforzheim, meiner Heimatstadt, war dabei sicherlich sehr hilfreich.

Designerin Sandra Gallian ist in Pforzheim geboren und aufgewachsen. Nach inspirierenden sechs Jahren in Ostfriesland an der Nordsee kehrte sie nach Pforzheim zurück und fertigt nun unter der Marke „WATERKANT“ maritime Schmuckstücke. Sie verrät im Interview mit WirtschaftsKRAFT, welche Frau ein Vorbild für sie ist, und warum Plätzchen backen manchmal gar nicht so einfach ist.

A tribute to the north sea

Inspired by the beauty of the North Sea, Sandra Gallian designed WATERKANT®, an exclusive statement jewellery collection for all lovers of the sea. The design of each piece depicts the play of ebb and flow at the shores of this maritime wonderland.

When Sandra Gallian came to live at the North Sea a few years ago, she was smitten with the diversity of its nature. “As a visual communications designer, I carry my camera everywhere and have captured the textures and colours of the Wadden Sea in my photography,” Gallian says. Feeling a deep connection to these shores inspired Gallian to create WATERKANT®, an exclusive collection of rings, charms and pendants.
“I have long dreamt about creating my own jewellery collection so it felt like a natural next step to design a series devoted to the North Sea.” The name of the collection is a literary term for ‘coast’ in the old German dialect of Lower Saxony. “Those who love the North Sea say that its beauty lies within the play of ebb and flow, of water and waves, sea and sand – our designs incorporate exactly that,” says Gallian. The combination of polished and textured precious metals as well as near natural structures creates a ‘coast and sea effect’. “Our clients feel like they are wearing a piece of the North Sea on their finger.”
